On May 14th a group of volunteers assisted with planting new trees, cleaning out and cutting up fallen trees, developed additional wildlife habitat, cleaned up of old fencing and construction debris, and installed landscaping around the beautiful new Darlene Soave Lodge. This work enhances the property to provide a better atmosphere for our programs to help our military veterans. Thank you to all our volunteers!
Our lodge is almost complete and we our proud to announce that we will soon be hosting veteran's events and sponsoring classes for our veterans. This multi function lodge features two handicap accessible bathrooms, three bedrooms, plus a full featured kitchen and a common area that can host large groups of veterans. The meeting area has a large fireplace and truly has that "Up North" feel because of all the wood trim and antler chandeliers. Within a couple of months, we will be announcing an open house to proudly display our new lodge. Hopefully you can join us for a fun day at Camp Liberty. A special "Thank You" to all of our volunteers and donors for making the lodge a reality. Please take a moment to review all of our progress.
Over 160 veterans and law enforcement officers enjoyed a free pheasant hunt courtesy of Camp Liberty and Tails-A-Waggin pheasant preserve. Michigan Out-of-Doors was there to record Saturday's action and will air their program in October. Camp Liberty provided track chairs for veterans who needed mobility assistance. Everyone had a good time.
